I started
What Nobody Tells Us
to make it
easier to talk
about the
hard stuff.

"What Nobody Tells Us" normalizes uncomfortable conversations and demystifies tough topics with compassion, insight, honesty and humor.
Why? In 2009, my then-fiancee, Bryan, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and given 6-12 months to live.
I was 29 years old and we were getting married just two months later. A week before my bridal shower, a doctor we'd never met handed Bryan a pamphlet entitled, "A Patient's Guide to Brain Cancer," announced he had 6-12 months to live and directed him to "get his affairs in order." In that one instant, life as we knew it changed forever, as did everyone's ability to relate to us.
"I had no one to talk to who really understood, and had to learn everything on my own. I've never felt so alone."
I knew NOTHING about cancer, radiation, chemotherapy, caregiving, "fall risks," steroids, brain swelling, sepsis, and all that was to come. There was no guide to "Brain Cancer Caregiving for 29-year-old Newlyweds." Day by day, through trial and error, thousands of tears, hundreds of MRIs and endless perseverance later, we are still standing and Bryan is still surviving, 15 years later.
I don't want anyone else to feel as confused or alone or stressed as I did, those who are going through it, as well as empowering friends and family to lean-in versus peace-out. If you or a loved one are facing a life-changing diagnosis, struggling as a parent, confused about age-related hormone issues, battling weight gain, facing mental health challenges and more… "What Nobody Tells Us" is for you.
